Wondering Where Your Personal Stimulus Payment Is?
As citizens and businesses across the country are trying to survive the economic and health impact of the Coronavirus crisis the government authorized a stimulus package to help individuals manage the impact of financial burden. This relief is provided under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and will provide those eligible with up to $1,200 for individuals and $2,400 for married couples. For taxpayers with a qualifying child that has not attained the age of 17, there is an additional $500 available to provide further assistance to parents. Stimulus payment amounts will vary for taxpayers depending on their adjusted gross income reported on their 2019 tax return. If the 2019 tax return has not been filed, then the IRS will refer to the 2018 tax return on file.
To help taxpayers check the status of their payment, the IRS has launched a new section on its website known as “Get My Payment.” Visiting this site will allow taxpayers to not only check on the status of their payment, but it also allows them to provide their direct deposit bank account information if they had not used this option on prior tax returns. Utilizing direct deposit would allow them to receive their payment faster rather than waiting for their payment to be mailed.
