Elisa Bowersox Earns AICPA Not-for-Profit Certification
Elisa Bowersox, CPA, Manager in Accounting and Tax with Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Co., P.A. (MNMW), has received the Not-for-Profit Certificate I from the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA). With this certification, Bowersox has a deeper understanding of the accounting concepts, as well as the financial and fiduciary responsibilities, that apply to not-for-profit organizations and can assist in strategic planning for organizational success.

Bowersox is a graduate of Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Business Administration, and she is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She has more than fifteen years of public accounting experience with specialties in individual, business, and non-profit tax planning and preparation.
Professionals who earn the Not-for-Profit certification apply core concepts in not-for-profit financial reporting, auditing, governance, and tax compliance concepts. They recognize the U.S. GAAP reporting standards applicable to not-for-profits and identify exempt organizations’ basic state and federal filing requirements. Additionally, these professionals identify best practices in nonprofit board governance and the planning steps of a nonprofit audit engagement.
