Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday 2023
Annually several states offer sales tax holidays and/or tax-free dates to help reduce the cost burden for their residents. The Florida 2023 Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday will begin on Saturday, May 27, 2023, and extend through Friday, June 9, 2023.
During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax. However, the sales tax holiday does not apply to the rental or repair of qualifying items or the commercial purchase of eligible pet evacuation supplies. The sales tax holiday also does not apply to sales in a theme park, entertainment complex, public lodging establishment, or airport.
Some examples of tax-free items include:

- Reusable ice costing $20 or less
- Radios costing $50 or less
- Tarps and ground anchors or tie-down kits costing $100 or less
- Coolers and portable power banks costing $60 or less
- Batteries and fuel tanks costing $50 or less
