On October 29, 2024, the Financial Crimes and Enforcement Network (FinCEN) issued five Notices extending the filing deadlines to submit BOI reports (including updates or corrections to prior reports) for certain reporting companies in response to Hurricane Milton, Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Debby, Hurricane Beryl, and Hurricane Francine. Please review carefully to determine whether the six months extension applies.

In summary, for reporting companies whose principal place of business is located in a disaster area (as defined in the notices), the deadlines extend as follows:

  • Reporting companies formed before January 1st, 2024 with original deadline to submit initial BOI report by January 1st, 2025 are now due July 1st, 2025 (FIN-2024-NTC11 – Hurricane Milton).
  • Reporting companies created or registered during 2024 that had original deadline for initial BOI submission within 90 days of formation, that falls withing the dates specified in the various notices, would also have six months extension from the original due date. Please note this will not apply to all companies formed in 2024 but just the ones whose original deadline would have been during the specified dates.
